The fastest and cheapest way into Central London from EVERY London Airport

Flying to London? Not sure of how you can get from the airport to the centre of the city? It doesn’t help that London has FIVE international airports which can make things a bit confusing. Regardless of whether you’re looking for the cheap option of the fast option I’m going to show you how to get into central London from every London Airport, including Heathrow, Gatwick ,Stansted, Luton and City.

Heathrow Airport to Central London

How to get from Heathrow to London

Fast way:

The fastest way to get into London from Heathrow airport in by using the Heathrow Express, a super fast train service that runs from terminals 2,3,4 and 5 straight to London Paddington Station. From Paddington you can use then tube network to reach your final destination. It takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to get to Paddington and costs £22 per person, although booking in advance will be cheaper.

Cheap way:

The cheapest way to get into central London from Heathrow is by using the London underground network Heathrow is close enough to central London to have its own tube station on the Piccadilly line. From this station, you can get to London in around 45 minutes and it will cost approximately £5 depending on how far you travel; you can also connect to other lines to get to your final destination.

Gatwick Airport to Central London

How to get from London to gatwick

Fast Way

The fastest way to get from Gatwick airport to central London is using the Gatwick Express. Like Heathrow, Gatwick also has a fast train service that runs directly into a large central London station, this time London Victoria. A journey on the Gatwick Express wil lget you into central London in 30 minutes and a return journey back to Gatwick will be the same. The cost of the Gatwick express is £17.50 per person.

Cheapest Way

The cheapest option to get into central London from Gatwick is to use the National Express coach services. This option is by far the cheapest, only costing £7, but also takes three times London than the train. One advantage of using the coach is that they offer far more direct destinations around London.

Stansted Airport to Central London

How to get from Stansted to London

Fast Way

Like the other two large airports, there is an express train service that goes straight from Stansted to a central London terminus, this time it’s London Liverpool street. The Stansted express takes approximately 45 minutes to complete its journey and costs £19 for a single ticket.

Cheapest Way

The cheapest way to get to London from Stansted is to go by coach. National express provide a coach directly to central London from £6 a person, although the journey takes at least an hour and a half and the coaches only depart every half an hour or so.

Luton Airport to Central London

Fast Way

The faster way to get from London Luton airport to the centre of London is again to take the train, although this time you will need to use a shuttle service from the airport to get to Luton Airport Parkway train station. Buy your tickets at the airport and you’ll see the free shuttle service is just outside the exit, the shuttle takes approximately 10 minutes and the train into London St Pancras takes approximately half an hour. The price of a single ticket is around £13 per person.

Cheapest Way

For a very cheap alternative to using the train you can use the easybus service from just £4 per ticket. The journey will take over an hour and take you straight to London Victoria station.

City Airport to Central London

Fastest AND Cheapest Way

Yes, that’s right! the fastest and cheapest way to get from London city airport to the centre of London is the same! Due to the fact that City airport is only located a few miles away from central London, you can use the city’s public transport network to get there in a flash. London’s light railway, the DLR, has a station at London City Airport which will take you to any central London destination in about 30 minutes. The cost of this journey will only be £2.80 when using an Oyster Card. It may be quicker to get a taxi depending on the traffic.
